STEELHEAD FLOATS
Steelhead float trips are offered on the west coast of Michigan spanning anywhere from Grand Rapids to Traverse City. We travel all around the state to provide you with the best action and chance at landing a trophy fish. All fish over 8-10 lbs will be released to help ensure the future of the fishery. 95% of the Steelhead we catch are released, but fish can be kept in moderation depending on size/age/hatchery variables that make some better to harvest than others. We have a special fishery and it's up to individual efforts to keep it that way. Northwest Michigan has some of the finest wild Steelhead fishing in the states. Try taming one of these gems in the skinny water!

Our Lake Michigan Charter runs out of Ludington, MI - the most renowned salmon port on all of the Great Lakes. Aboard Chiefz, you'll be greeted with a one-of-a-kind, battle-tested 3100 Open Tiara powered by twin Caterpillar diesel engines. This is big-water salmon fishing on a fast, stable platform built to get you safely offshore and keep you on the fish.
We primarily target mature King Salmon, with frequent bycatches of Coho Salmon and various trout— Lakers, Steelhead, and the occasional Brown. Our home port is predominantly known for Big Sable Point, which boasts one of the most notorious feeding grounds on all of Lake Michigan.
Premium tackle, electronics, and gear are dialed in and ready — just bring a cooler and hang on! We recommend 4 to 5 anglers for the most comfortable trip, but can take up to 6 per request.

In 2021, the largest Great Lakes King Salmon (47.86 lbs) was caught right out of our home port of Ludington.

River Salmon trips are primarily based in the Northwestern tributaries of Michigan. We target King Salmon & Coho Salmon by floating chunks of bait (skein/roe) under a float in deep holes and cast hardware such as Deep Diving crankbaits & Spinners.
We do not sight fish or target fish actively spawning on their beds. We run a ethical, fair chase guide service. People say salmon don't bite in the rivers, I'm here to show you otherwise. Come battle the hardest fighting fish the Great Lakes has to offer!
